Taylor Slough is the second largest natural drainage system in Everglades National Park (Figure 1). The slough arises in a poorly defined headwaters region outside the park boundary in the vicinity of Chekika State Recreation Area. It flows southward, establishing definitive boundaries near its entrance at Everglades National Park, approximately two miles north of park headquarters. Surface waters continue to flow southward until they merge until the estuarine areas and contribute directly into Florida Bay.
