This is a geospatial dataset showing noxious and nonnative weed locations mapped in 2002 at Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve. The intended use of all data in the park's GIS library is to support diverse park activities including planning, management, maintenance, research, and interpretation.These are vector point, line, and polygon files showing the locations of noxious weeds mapped and treated in 2002 throughout Craters of the Moon Monument and Preserve in and adjacent to the NPS administered part of the monument. This zipped file contains weed locations smaller than 5 meters in diameter (weed points), with a linear distribution (weed lines), those covering areas larger than 5 meters in diameter (weed areas), and those covering areas 30 meters in diameter (weed point buffer zones). This is not a comprehensive survey of the entire park. Randomly selected areas from the 2001 inventory data were revisited and the data was updated. Other areas with large infestations were visited and treated, most of which were along highway 93/20/26 and some on Goodale's cutoff. The coordinates for this dataset were collected using a Trimble GeoExplorer3. Most of the weed points were treated mechanically by hand. Knapweed points were sprayed with herbicide and some of the more remote points in the wilderness area were mapped but were not treated.
