This is a geospatial dataset showing noxious and nonnative weed locations mapped in 2003 at Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve. The intended use of all data in the park's GIS library is to support diverse park activities including planning, management, maintenance, research, and interpretation.These are vector point, line, and polygon files showing the locations of noxious weeds mapped and treated in 2002 throughout Craters of the Moon Monument and Preserve in and adjacent to the NPS administered part of the monument. This zipped file contains weed locations smaller than 5 meters in diameter (weed points), with a linear distribution (weed lines), those covering areas larger than 5 meters in diameter (weed areas), and those covering areas 30 meters in diameter (weed point buffer zones). This is not a comprehensive survey of the entire park. This file contains all weed locations found in 2003. Weed points from previous years were revisited and new weed locations were mapped. The areas inventoried included Hwy 20/26/93 from milemarker 213 to 240, parts of Goodales cutoff, the North End of the NPS Monument, sites along the loop road, and parts of Little Park and the Huddles Hole area. The coordinates for this dataset were collected using a Trimble GeoExplorer3 and Trimble XT. Most of the weed points were treated mechanically by hand. Knapweed points were sprayed with herbicide and some of the more remote points in the wilderness area were mapped but were not treated.
