Sibling crosses of monokaryotic isolates of eleven species of Marasmius, representing four morphologically defined sections of the genus, supported the hypothesis that mating patterns are consistent between species at the sectional rank. Mating system data and brief discussions of cultural characteristics are provided for M. alliaceus, M. copelandii, and M. salalis (section Alliacei); M. olneii and M. quercophilus (section Androsacei); M. capillaris, M. curreyi, and M. wettsteinii (section Marasmius); and M. ciliatomarginatus, M. falcatipes, and M. haematocephalus (section Sicci).
