The Four Lakes Area Action Plan A Management and Usage Report

Merikaarto K. 1991. The Four Lakes Area Action Plan A Management and Usage Report. Port Angeles, WA

During the summer of 1991, I interned at Olympic National Park (ONP) in the Hoodsport Sub-District. The goal of the internship was to evaluate and observe a large ecological area referred to as the Four Lakes Area. Since this area has received minimal attention from park management, because of lack of funding, this report is the first presentation of visitation and existing conditions of the resource. The objectives of this report is to apply a mini-planning process for the Four Lakes region which will be recommended for inclusion into ONP's Wilderness Management Plan. This report will identify the existing resource issues, inventory conditions, recommended standards, and then recommend management actions that will rehabilitate the damaged areas and return those areas to an acceptable level of change. This report is the "action plan" that addresses the maintenance and rehabilitation of the Four Lakes Area of Olympic National Park.
