Complementary Bioluminescent Study in Salt River, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. Research Permit and Reporting System

Bioluminescence measured in the Salt River lagoon, aka Mangrove Lagoon, from June-December 2013 was quite variable, and was affected by storm events, but it exhibited three general periods: (1) June to mid-August, relatively low bioluminescence; (2) mid-August through end of November, high bioluminescence; and (3) November and December, low bioluminescence. The high bioluminescence period was similar to that measured during fall 2010 in Mosquito Bay, Vieques, Puerto Rico.
