Lucey W, Castellote M, Stafford K. The ecology, status and stock identity of beluga whales, Delphinapterus luecas, in Yakutat Bay, Alaska. Research Permit and Reporting System

ABSTRACT — Little is known about the ecology of belugas and harbor porpoise inhabiting Yakutat Bay. Using passive acoustic monitoring techniques, their year-round presence was monitored off the mouths of two glacial rivers. Fishery trawl transects were run in both areas in June-August to assess fish and invertebrate diversity and identify potential beluga and harbor porpoise prey.
