The Hoh Developed Area Historic District is located in the western side of Olympic National Park within a pristine glacial valley. The approximately 420-acre historic district is located within one of the world's most spectacular examples of a temperate rain forest and was recognized under Mission 66 planning as a location for expanded visitor facilities to provide interpretation along with additional day use and overnight accommodations. The relatively flat topography of the alluvial terrace along the southern bank of the Hoh River provided a broad area of level ground to accommodate the facilities while allowing close proximity to the resources being interpreted. .... The historic district retains its integrity and conveys its historic significance as a planned development that displays the characteristics of Mission 66 era planning, design, and construction.
