Fire effects monitoring data collected at Great Basin National Park in Baker, NV. The data were collected during summer field seasons by the fire effects monitoring crew out of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in advance of a wildland fire in 1998. Two plots were revisited in 2001. Data collected from shrub transects are 30 meter point intercept data to obtain relative and percent cover. Shrub density data is also measured using brush belts along the same transect. Photographs are taken from each end of the transect to document change. Data collected from 50 x 20 m forest plots include tree inventory to obtain density and basal area, fuel load using Brown's method for inventorying surface fuels and biomass, seedling density, as well as all shrub transect methods for 50 m transects.
