The Tertiary formations of Western Washington and Oregon consists of a sequence of nearly 30,000 feet of marine and continental sandstones, shales, and conglomerates, together with basaltic and andesitic lavas, tuffs, and agglomerates. These formations vary greatly in thickness, lithology, and conditions of deposition from place to place and are represented by the following: Pleistocene Pliocene and Miocene Middle Miocene Lower Miocene Oligocene Eocene
