Much has been written about the scenic and natural wonders of Olympic National Park, which occupies a large portion of the Olympic Peninsula landbase. I had the great fortune to be selected by the Park Service in 1982 to conduct baseline studies into the prehistory and ethnography of the park. These studies produced new archeological data. Now, with the encouragement of the Park Service, I would like to share some of my impressions and interpretations. During the course of my research and work in Olympic, I found that the visiting public was very much interested in learning about the archeology of the peninsula. This booklet is an attempt to meet that interest. Co-author Jerry Marr and I hope that the text to follow will both entertain and inform past, present, and future park visitors who are curious about the cultural prehistory of the Olympic Peninsula.
