This study investigates the impact that physical reworking (e.g., by tides, storms, or human activity) can have on the geochemistry of sediments and porewaters in shallow marine environments. In particular, we look at the impact that this reworking has on the marine sulfur biogeochemical cycle by examining the abundance and stable isotopic composition of sedimentary and aqueous sulfate and sulfide species in these sediments.
