Physical attributes of the watershed, basin, water chemistry, thermal profile and trophic state of Lake Crescent, Washington were investigated during 1980-1983. A mean depth of 101m, a shoreline development of 2.29, and a mean TDS of 91mg/l contribute greatly to the poor development of littoral flora and fauna. Exchange rate was found to be 9.8 years and a Trophic State Index (TSI) value of 18 was calculated. Lake Crescent was found to follow a warm monomictic stratification pattern. Chemical analyses suggest that nitrate availability limits phytoplankton production.
