This study was developed to experimentally evaluate differences in growth, recruitment, and mortality that may underlie spatial trends in the condition of oyster reefs throughout the National Seashores at Cumberland Island, Cape Canaveral and Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve. The overall status of oyster populations across the three NPS park units reflects a combination of oyster recruitment, oyster growth, and oyster survivorship. Our study highlights substantial variation in these vital rates that is important to consider when interpreting the health of oyster reefs across NPS park units and/or planning restoration activities.
