One tagged hawksbill turtle, Eretmochelys imbricata (Linne) was released from the coast of Kuroshima on 5 March 1985, and recaptured after 18 months on 30 August 1986, at Sekisei Lagoon, approximately 9 km north of Kuroshima. This turtle gained 83 mm of carapace length and 2. 9 kg of body weight in 18 months. The calculated growth rate, 4. 61 mm/mo is lower than that of reared turtle in captivity.
