The potential problems facing flatback and green turtles are used to illustrate turtle conservation needs in Queensland. The principal problems involve controlled real estate and other development, elimination of feral predators from nesting beaches, sponsoring critical research to formulate sustained harvest levels "for use by Australian and foreign coastal peoples dependent on turtles for food. International co-operation is essential for conservation of turtles which are shared between Australia and her neighbors.
