Marine Littoral Copepods from Jamaica

During May and June 1964, collections of copepods were made for the purpose of determining what species of copepods live among and above the algae of the Jamaican coastal region. Comparisons of these collections with collections taken in Puerto Rico, Barbados, Florida Keys, Bahamas and Bermuda were made for possible correlation of distribution with ocean currents, past and present. At the time that these Jamaican collections were taken, there were no published taxonomic reports on the free-living littoral copepods of this island. Recently, Coull ( 1970) reported 6 species of harpacticoids in a collection made at Port Royal, Kingston Harbor, Jamaica on 20 February 1969. Only one of his list (Dactylopodia tisboides) was taken in my Jamaican collections. This report includes only a few of the species collected.
