Several estimates of the panther (Felis concolor coryi) population in Florida have been made recently (Table 1) , based on questionnaires, interviews, relatively brief surveys in particular regions, and mere opinion. This presentation will summarize the few recent definite panther records in Florida, stress the idea of considering only the completely reliable records, and make recommendations for the establishment of a clearinghouse for Florida panther records.
