This article explains the sesquiterpene hydrocarbon mixture occurring in the gorgonian Pseudopterogorgia americana. The hyrdrocarbon mixture was isolated using chromatography and found to consist primarily of 9-aristolene, 1(10)-aristolene, y-maaliene and -B-Gorgonene.
