Study, was preceded by a Preliminary Report, Part I, that was submitted May 10, 1973. The latter is available from the National Technical Information Service, u.s. Department of Commerce under Accession Number PB-231939. The style of the two reports is identical and it is the intent of the authors that they be considered separate only in the sense of time. A substantial part of Part I presented the objectives, study area, nature of the problem, plant succession, methods, general vegetation analysis, history and literature. It included detailed quadrat analysis of 10 of the 100 quadrats selected for the study. Since it was decided not to repeat the presentation of most of the background material in Part II, the major thrust of Part II is to document the detailed quadrat analysis of the 90 quadrats not included in Part I. Part I and Part II are, therefore, so closely related that it is the authors' opinion that both reports should be obtained by persons using the data and that they be considered a unit report in a practical and operational sense.
