GAAR Kobuk River Basin Ecoregions

2000. GAAR Kobuk River Basin Ecoregions

As part of an interagency agreement between the National Park Service (NPS) and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), basin characteristics are being determined for a number of watersheds in National Parks of Alaska. The purpose of this data set is to provide the NPS information about the ecoregions of the Kobuk River Basin to do basic spatial analysis. A GIS coverage of the ecoregions of the Kobuk River Basin can be used to determine the type and amount of ecoregions for a given watershed. Each ecoregion represents a distinct type of land based on characteristics such as geology, soils, or precipitation. More knowledge and understanding of the Kobuk River Basin will help the NPS in making sound management decisions.
