GLBA Coast Walker Ground Control Points
2013. GLBA Coast Walker Ground Control Points
This dataset represents the 1678 Visible Identifiable Objects (VIO)mapped by field inventory crews using Trimble Geo3 handheld GPS devices. VIO's normally represented objects 2-3 meters in size and with sharp contrast to the surronding area. Field crews would identify these objects using aerial photos in the field, and uniquely identify them on the photo and in the GPS using a data dictionary. These data were them downloaded, differentially corrected with Gustavus CORS, edited and exported as shapefiles. These data were then used to "pin" down the scanned aerial photos for the simple rectification process using ArcView Image Warp extension. This layer is also refered to as the "GLBA Ground Control Layer".
