GLBA Coastal Segments

2009. GLBA Coastal Segments

This is the polygon feature class showing the spatial extent of the coastal 'segments' - the intertidal polygon areas for which the tabular data was collected for the Coastwalker database. Lower segment limits are the low water limits as shown in aerial photos in the Coastwalker database. Upper limits were generally the upper intertidal herbaceous vegetation to woody vegetation line as visible in aerial photos but this line was not always present, clear or visible, see accompanying project metadata and field protocol for more details. Side to side segment boundarys were created by the mapping crew in the field based on changes in substrate. See the field protocol for a complete description. This layer is also refered to as the "GLBA Coastal Mapping Layer".
