This annual report details the status of key indicators of water quality obtained from monitoring in Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve (CRMO), June 21-22, 2013. Little Cottonwood Creek was previously sampled by the UCBN in 2010 (see Starkey 2011). Data from the 2013 field sampling effort was collected following methods detailed in the UCBN integrated water quality monitoring protocol (Starkey et al. 2008, Starkey et al. 2013). The UCBN Integrated Water Quality Monitoring Protocol was formally peer-reviewed and approved for implementation in August 2009. This protocol can be found on the UCBN website at: http://science.nature.nps.gov/im/units/ucbn/publications.cfm?tab=3. Benthic macroinvertebrates were collected according to a protocol established by the United States Forest Service- PACFISH/INFISH Biological Opinion (PIBO) program. These methods are also outlined in the UCBN monitoring protocol for stream channel characteristics (Starkey et al. 2011), which can also be found on the UCBN’s website listed above.
