Non-tidal wetland hydrology and soils

Non-tidal wetland hydrology and soils

A study to determine the relationship of hydrology to non-tidal wetlands soils and vegetation for the coastal plain of Virginia. This proposal is part of a larger project to map the hydrology and wetlands within the stream systems within the Yorktown Battlefield/tour road area. Creeks include Great Run, Baptist Runs and Beaverdam Creeks. This study will establish a baseline inventory of selected typical forested wetlands. The study will monitor the hydrology of the wetlands to verify the NWI classification system. The EPA will fund the installation and monitoring of wells, soil sampling and characterization and establishment of vegetation plots and initial inventory and monitoring.
