Studies of the effect of environmental temperature on the skeletal growth rate of Porites porites

Studies of the effect of environmental temperature on the skeletal growth rate of Porites porites. Research Permit and Reporting System

This study looked at the effect of temperatures of 26, 29, 30 and 31.5 C on the skeletal growth rate of Porites porites and the interacting effect of seawater pH (present day 8.05 and end of the century 7.8). We found that 30.0 C was very close to the optimal temperature for growth of this species based on specimens collected at a patch reef near the northern tip of Key Largo, FL.
