Assessing Risk from Climate Change Impacts of Sea Level Rise and Storm Surge
Bradley M and Shaw N. Assessing Risk from Climate Change Impacts of Sea Level Rise and Storm Surge. 2010-2014
Coastal parks in the northeast are at risk from climate change impacts of sea level rise and surge caused by large storms. The goal of our project is to estimate risk at specific locations in northeastern coastal national parks. Our process requires establishing a survey control network and accurate elevation measurements (cm) at sentinel sites. The probability of inundation at these sites is then assessed using the best available models. The results of this project will be increased knowledge about how the changes in sea level and storm surge will affect important natural and historical resources and how to manage for these conditions. This project has generated over 125 geospatial datasets for coastal managers and GIS technicians.
