McGowen M, McCandlish T, Good A. 2003. All Taxa Biotic Inventory Fishes Of Tomales Bay - Draft Report. Romberg Tiburon Center for Environmental Studies. Tiburon, CA

INTRODUCTION The purpose of this study is to present information on the diversity and abundance of fishes in Tomales Bay. This study presents existing information on species that occur in the bay, species area relationships and community similarity among bays up and down the California coast and presents the results of preliminary sampling we have begun to document the present status of the Tomales Bay fish fauna as part of an All Taxa Biotic lnventmy (ATBI) underway for Tomales Bay. The purpose of the sampling conducted so far was to begin the inventory but also to develop and test the methods and to estimate the effort that would be needed to complete a comprehensive A TBI for fishes. RESULTS In Table I Tomales Bay data is combined with Bodega Bay as the Tomales Bodega complex (TBB). The Bodega Bay portion of the complex increases the number of marine species however fresh water species in the tidally influenced part of Lagunitas Creek were not included, so the number of species within the A TBI area is likely very close to the numbers shown for the TBB complex.
