Population structure of Montastraea annularis and M. franksi and their associated zooxanthellae endosymbionts throughout the Florida Reef Tract

Lopez J and Fogarty N. Population structure of Montastraea annularis and M. franksi and their associated zooxanthellae endosymbionts throughout the Florida Reef Tract. Research Permit and Reporting System

Determine the population structure of Montastraea annularis and M. franksi using seven existing microsatellite markers. Tissue samples were collected at 25 shallow (less than 10m) and 25 deep (greater than 10m) sites from Broward County to the Dry Tortugas to highlight the importance of depth in zooxanthellae genetic diversity and to capture the potential for regional genetic differences in Montastraea.
