Foraminifera of Tomales Bay, California

Ten stations were visited along the east side of the bay and one on the west side near Inverness, their exact positions being given below. These collecting localities were selected with a view to ascertaining where a line may be drawn between brackish and marine Foraminifera. While the majority of the samples was obtained at low tide, some were obtained from depths of not more than six feet by means of the bulldog snap-peril dredge. In the technique of collecting samples for this problem, the mariner's so-called "bulldog snapper" was useful in dredging bottom samples from depths of two to, six feet. In mounting the specimens collected it was found convenient to use a single specially prepared slide on which the species characterizing the various localities could be mounted side by side for comparative study.
