Evaluating distribution, habitat use, dispersal and health of dolphin communities along the east coast of central Florida. Research Permit and Reporting System

In November 2013, a morbillivirus dolphin mortality event moved into northern and central Florida Atlantic waters and in 2014 was documented in Mosquito Lagoon dolphins. Our objectives were to monitor the health and behavior of these animals, and to enhance our understanding of movement patterns and habitat use. While recently implemented, to date our results do not indicate a large number of dolphins exhibiting emaciation or skin lesions and recent morbillivirus results are negative.
