The 1949 field notebooks of Richard Daugherty's ethnographic work with the Hoh Tribe of western Washington State were compiled, organized, and occasionally extracted and re-arranged to facilitate publication. Additional material was prepared by Jay Powell and Ruth Kirk and included to set the context of the material in light of current knowledge of the Chemakuan Linguistic Isolate.
