Mapping mafic/felsic dikes and strike-slip faults at Schoodic Point, Acadia National Park

Mapping mafic/felsic dikes and strike-slip faults at Schoodic Point, Acadia National Park. Research Permit and Reporting System

Digital surveying of mafic to felsic dikes and a zone of older strike-slip faulting at Schoodic Point has mapped ~80 separate dike intrusions and ~500 individual fault segments. Dike orientations include a dominant NE-SW set with additional NNE-SSW, and generally younger NW-SE and NNW-SSE dike sets. Projections between mapped faults reveal four left-stepping en echelon right-lateral strike-slip segments that are frozen at an early stage in the process of linkage to a through-going fault zone.
