The Geologic Resources Inventory (GRI) Program, administered by the Geologic Resources Division (GRD), provides each of 270 identified natural area National Park System units with a geologic scoping meeting, a scoping summary, a digital geologic map, and a geologic resources inventory report. Geologic scoping meetings generate an evaluation of the adequacy of existing geologic maps for resource management. Scoping meetings also provide an opportunity to discuss park-specific geologic management issues, distinctive geologic features and processes, and potential monitoring and research needs.
