Management Policies: The Guide to Managing the National Park System. The 1916 Organic Act requires that the unique landscapes within the national park system be managed in a special way, in order to allow them to be enjoyed both by those that are here today and by the generations that follow. The challenge to maintain the historic and natural condition of these places is shared by all employees in the National Park Service.
