Status of the Pecos River Fishery with in the Pecos National Historic Park. Research Permit and Reporting System
New Mexico Department of Game and Fish biologists continued to monitor the fishery located within the park as part of analysis of the pilot fishing program. The resident trout fishery was almost complete lost due to extreme flooding post summer fire in 2013. The Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout populations have increased slightly but are still below desired levels to support a fishing program. Native species, such as Rio Grande Chub, have increase population numbers post fire and floods.
