Under contract with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Ecosphere Environmental Services collected understory data on annual production, cover and frequency within Chinle chapter including Canyon de Chelly. Data were used to calculate carrying capacity based on available forage. Stocking rates were calculated by ecological sites. Transects within the canyons of the National Park were modified to comply with cultural resource sensitivity under the guidance of the park archeologist and monitor.
