Acoustic Monitoring and Analysis Effects of Anthropogenic Noise on Soundscapes (An Environmental Science and Resource Management Capstone Project)

Robertson MA. Acoustic Monitoring and Analysis Effects of Anthropogenic Noise on Soundscapes (An Environmental Science and Resource Management Capstone Project). Research Permit and Reporting System

This study compared established acoustic monitoring sites in Southern California by comparing average sound levels recorded at each monitoring site. I hypothesized that although there are many variables that affect the transmittance of sound in an area, sound levels have an inverse correlation with distance from roadways and a positive correlation with the amount of traffic on these roadways. Upon comparing the resulting data from my sound recordings I was able to make specific inferences.
