The report examines stored sediments and sediment transport in Redwood Creek, whose total sediment was greatly increased by a large flood in December 1964. While the channel is slowly recovering from effects of the flood, the abstract indicates that total recovery 'will take more than a century.' Stable sediments can be stored in deposits for many centuries, and floods of this magnitude may be only 50 years apart. The paper considers depths of scour and the relative ease with which sediment is moved from different parts of this gravel-bed river. Among the illustrations are black-and-white photographs of flood effects, cross-sectional channel profiles, and residence times/other sediment storage data.
