This study had two goals: (1) Describe the macroinvertebrate populations of four different ephemeral ponds, and their “phenology” (how they develop and change over time), from March through June, 2004. (2) Informally assess the relative importance of (a) hydroperiod, (b) presence or absence of ambystomid salamander larvae, and (c) forest or non-forest setting, in determining the types of macroinvertebrates present in the ponds, and their phenology.
