In-water capture studies of marine turtles in Florida Bay were conducted annually, during June, in 2013 and 2014 as part of a long-term study initiated in 1990. A total of 147 loggerhead and 3 Kemp's ridley turtles were captured. Green turtles (n=117) were sighted and recorded but not captured. Our annual recapture rate was 42% in 2013 and 18% in 2014. Habitat changes in our study area prior to our 2014 field season resulted in significantly reduced numbers of turtles available for capture.
