Four studies were implemented to describe and assess biological communities, human activity, and effects of trampling and urban effluent exposure on meiofauna within rocky intertidal areas of the La Jolla and Scripps Areas of Special Biological Significance (ASBS 29 and 31). These studies will add to current knowledge of anthropogenic impacts on ecologically important meiofauna (as bacterial-grazers, filters, and prey for higher trophic levels).
