A summary of fire ecology activities and program information for the Park/network including fire effects plot workload, staffing, management objectives and monitoring results, and planning, fire monitoring, communications, and research. Also included are staff accomplishments/areas of focus, future program direction and other optional information (e.g. data analysis graphics or presentations, annual highlights, publications, program challenges, unique solutions to problems, collaboration, photographs of monitoring/fire activities, and suggestions on FFI). During 2010 the NPS Alaska Fire Ecology program re-measured hazard fuel reduction plots in Wrangell-St. Elias NPPr (WRST), measured burn severity CBI plots and fire effects monitoring plots in the 2009 Chakina Fire in WRST, established pre-fire monitoring plots for the Carl Cr Prescribed fire in WRST, and monitored burn severity on permanent vegetation plots in association with Central Alaska I&M Network in the 2009 Bear Cr fire in Denali NPPr. We participated in several NPS and interagency meetings, attended trainings, instructed classes, and had a Regional Fire Program Review in November of 2010. The final report on tundra fire regimes was completed and submitted to Joint Fire Science Program and two papers were submitted to the Alaska Park Science journal.
