A summary of fire ecology activities and program information for the Park/network including fire effects plot workload, staffing, management objectives and monitoring results, and planning, fire monitoring, communications, and research. Also included are staff accomplishments/areas of focus, future program direction and other optional information (e.g. data analysis graphics or presentations, annual highlights, publications, program challenges, unique solutions to problems, collaboration, photographs of monitoring/fire activities, and suggestions on FFI). The 2010 field season started in June, when Laura Trader, Madeline Scheintaub, Dana Betts, and Brian Houseman re-read plots in Bandelier’s Project Area 40. Madeline (GS-6), Brian (GS-5), and Dana (GS-3), seasonal employees, started the season in May. Rachel Panning (SCA), Jake Wilson (SCA), Bob Cleveland (SCA), and Jim Sudderth (SCA) started on June 29th. In July, Beth Gastineau and Jenny Schon returned as lead monitors. Scott Massed joined the crew on August 2nd. Jenny stayed for two weeks and Beth stayed for six weeks. Madeline was the field crew leader after both Jenny and Beth left. Brian functioned as the assistant. All crew members helped to accomplish both NPS and USFS work. The field season for all parks ended in October. The crew installed and read a total of 34 plots and re-read a total of 118 plots in all parks combined, including Forest Service lands. All data entry and checking was completed by mid November. The 2010 field season was a huge success!
