Caribou occur in all three management units within the NPS Central Alaska Inventory and Monitoring Network, and are 1 of the 6 large mammal species in interior Alaska that are of great importance to these ecosystems and to people for both consumptive and non-consumptive uses. The objectives defined for monitoring caribou in CAKN are to determine changes in abundance, distribution, and demographics, with a focus on estimating calf survival and recruitment.
