A summary of fire ecology activities and program information for the Park/network including fire effects plot workload, staffing, management objectives and monitoring results, and planning, fire monitoring, communications, and research. Also included are staff accomplishments/areas of focus, future program direction and other optional information (e.g. data analysis graphics or presentations, annual highlights, publications, program challenges, unique solutions to problems, collaboration, photographs of monitoring/fire activities, and suggestions on FFI). Calendar Year 2007 marked a complete transition in personnel for the NATR Fire Effects team. Mandi Callis rejoined the fire effects crew as the lead monitor. Two new monitors also joined the crew. Jennifer Falkey came in June from the University of Georgia/Jones Ecological Center. Angela Sokolowski came in August from Lake Mead Exotic Plant Management Team. This new fire effects team brings a wealth of knowledge and ability to the program. The year was also a great year for prescribed fire. All parks scheduled to burn were burned successfully, with the exception of STRI. With the transition from FMH to FEAT being complete, we have increased flexibility in data management. With the upcoming transition from FEAT to FFI, much time was spent near the end of 2007 doing data entry and further refining/streamlining the database for each park.
