USF's Ecosystem Restoration Lab conducted a riparian tree survey along Redwood Creek in Muir Woods on September 5, 9, and 24, 2013. The goal of sampling was to provide the GGNRA with ages of trees on seven floodplain terraces along the project reach to help in restoration planning. Tree cores were sampled from: California bay laurel, red alder, and big leaf maple. Very strong correlations were found between number of rings and DBH for California bay core samples (R2 value of 0.9635).
