.Final Report series. This fellowship program was the first of its kind funded by the CESI Program. Though it was hosted at the University of Florida, the fellowships were designed to invite collaborations with other higher educational institutions. The fellowship programs are designed to train students in Everglades science, while at the same time supporting short-term projects to address specific research needs or synthesize existing Everglades science. The fellowship funded through this CESI project supported the work of three graduate students and three postdoctoral associates from Florida International University. In collaboration with staff at Everglades National Park, the investigations examined a broad range of topics to better understand the relationship between hydrology and the ecology of important Everglades species, the influence of water flow and soil accretion on the formation of the ridge and slough landscape and the impacts of water quality on Everglades habitats.
