A summary of fire ecology activities and program information for the Park/network including fire effects plot workload, staffing, management objectives and monitoring results, and planning, fire monitoring, communications, and research. Also included are staff accomplishments/areas of focus, future program direction and other optional information (e.g. data analysis graphics or presentations, annual highlights, publications, program challenges, unique solutions to problems, collaboration, photographs of monitoring/fire activities, and suggestions on FFI). 2012 was yet another busy summer for the Southern Cascades fire effects crew. The crew completed 208 plots in their core parks (LABE, CRLA and LAVO) as well as assisting the Klamath network fire ecologist with plots in WHIS and ORCA. Along with fire ecologist Calvin Farris and crew lead Todd Erdody, there were seasonals to assist with the workload. Due to budget constraints, Todd could only hire one seasonal and managed to acquire a fire effects veteran in Christy Frenzen. Christy had worked the previous 3 seasons as the acting lead at SEKI and before that was a regular crewmember on the REDW fire effects crew. Additionally, Todd supervised the San Fransisco Bay Area network (SFBAN) fire effects crew from the middle of July until the end of the season. This crew consisted of Monica Delmartini and Jenny Cribbs.
