The purpose of this study is to determine the age of the Torrey pine population on Santa Rosa Island. This information will show where the oldest trees are and where the newest trees are growing. Linear regression shows that trees have grow 1.2 cm in DBH every year. Of the 24,000 Torrey pines on SRI, 80% of the trees are less than 6 years old.
